What do I think?
Personally, this is a really great read for me. I love all of the character dynamics, and how each scene and interaction is played out in the story. I really felt that this was hard to put down, as I couldn't wait for that next plot turn, that next unexpected event, or the final scene. I basically read this entire book in a 17 hour car ride down to North Carolina, and I read for 4-5 hour bursts, and finished the book during the stay over Spring Break. We had an ocean-front lot, and I read out on the deck on the third story in the morning with a cup of black coffee. I enjoyed reading this book, and this is the book that sort of introduced me to David Baldacci and his style of writing, and I really like it. The only part that I didn't like about this book was the end, when Reggie and Shaw split. And the fact that THERE IS NO FOLLOW-UP FOR REGGIE. I am really mad that Reggie and her vigilante group don't have anymore stories, as she is my favorite character in this novel. I am upset also because I read this book before its predecessor, which explains more of the mysterious Agent Shaw’s backstory. In this book, a Katie Johnson is mentioned, and she is part of the reason that Shaw leaves Reggie in the end (spoiler). Shaw’s partner is also explained and fleshed out a little more after reading the earlier book, and his backstory as well. Sadly, there is no more information on the organization they work for, or why they do what they do, unlike Reggie and her group. Overall, this is a great read, and I highly recommend both the author, the book, and its predecessor, but the first book should be read first (I know I'm a hypocrite, but don't make the same mistake I did!).
